it becomes more clear as to how convoluted, corrupted and out of control our "systems" are and have become. it should be obvious to even the most casual of observer/participants; right from the white house down to the smallest city council.
i recently was stopped by a city policeman for, allegedly, running a red turn arrow. i have not had a moving citation in at least 25 years.
when i entered the intersection to make my turn, the arrow turned yellow from green. the officer said otherwise, of course, my protests fell on deaf, uncaring, ears of the arrogant, sneering officer. nevertheless, a citation was issued to me.
on the citation directions are given as to what an 'offender' must do to comply. there are four options. each of which reflect the 'fairness and impartiality' of the jurist prudence system we live under. basically, they say you may pay the fine and go to trial and you may pay the fine without going to trial.
you're given the opportunity to either go to court in person, or to go to court via mail.
you may contest the citation or not...but...any way you choose...you have to pay the fine...win or lose.
you may select an option to "Attend traffic school, if you are eligible, and upon successful completion, the charges will be dismissed, AFTER you pay the fine."
the whole system stinks as far as i can see...if you win and the case is dismissed, you still have to pay the fine...what kind of "JUSTICE" is that?
it seems to me, that if a person contests a citation and wins, ALL charges, fines and fees should be negated and returned with all records being deleted or destroyed concerning the whole matter.
what it all comes down to, plain and simple, is money...cash...dough...snaps...moola...shekels...that's all that the 'system' is looking to...not whether or not "Justice" was/is being done.
in the end...if you paid the fine..."justice" was served...if you are "innocent" and did not pay costs...you are still guilty. you must pay for both...it's that simple.
